Saturday 22 June Gartocharn 10 - Fintry 0
This was a good win for Gartocharn, with many of the goals in the running for goal of the season, it was one of those nights where everyone played really well, and at last we took the chances we created, and but for some magnificent saves by the Fintry keeper we could have scored a few more. Goal scorers were Andy Bailie with 4, Gary More with 2 and one each from Brian Stewart, Graeme McKenzie, Ryan Degan and Ian Muir. A very convincing win before our next match which is away to Gargunnock on Tues 25th, kick off 7.30 pm.
Tuesday 18 June Gartocharn 4 - Kippen 2
Another good win for Gartocharn and a valuable 3 points as we chase the title.
Next game is at home to Fintry on Sat 22nd, kick off 7.00 pm
Saturday 15 June Fintry 0 - Gartocharn 5
A good win and a good performance from Gartocharn to get us back on the winning trail. Goals from Robert Muir. 3 and one apiece from Dougie Wilson and captain Ian Muir saw us run our relatively comfortable winners.
Next game is Tues 18th away to Kippen, kick off 7. 30.
Saturday 8th June Deanston 4 Gartocharn 0
Gartocharn suffered their first league defeat of the season on Saturday at the hands of last years league champions Deanston. This was poor lacklustre performance from Gartocharn, who despite a lot of effort never got into the game.
Deanston played some good football and took their chances, 2 in either half, we had some periods of pressure when we hit the bar, and we came up against some good goalkeeping from the Deanston keeper.
All in all a disappointing result, but other results on the night means the league race is still wide open, and a good few teams, ourselves and Deanston included, will feel they can lift the title.
Our next match is on Sat 15th away to Fintry, this is a rearranged game which was posponed earlier due to the weather.
Kick off is 7pm, when hopefully we will get back to winning ways.
Tuesday 4th June Gartocharn 5 Gargunnock 2
This was a hard fought game between two commited teams, both fighting for top spot in the league, Gartocharn took the lead in the 12th minute when Graeme played a through ball to Dougie Wilson who slotted home., but Gargunnock levelled in 20 mns when they were awarded a penalty kick . We began to dictate play then and retook the lead when a great Andy Baillie run and cross into the box was met by John McQueen who shot home from 12 yards, 3 minutes later John turned provider when an inch perfect cross was met by Gary More who headed home.but once again slack defending led to us losing a goal a few minutes later, but our 2 goal lead was restored in 40 mins when a Graeme through ball again was met by Dougie who drove the ball home. Half Time 4-2 to Gartocharn.
The second half was a bad tempered affair with chances few and far between but midway through the half another Graeme free kick was met by Robert muir, and his powerful header could only be parried out by the Gargunnock keeper, leaving Andy Baillie the simplest of tasks to tap home. Final Score Gartocharn 5 Gargunnock 2.
Our next match is Sat 8th June away to Deanston, kick off 7 pm.
Saturday 1st June. Gartocharn 3 Blanefield 1
This was a bruising encounter with two teams evenly matched, with chances few and far between it was no surprise that at half time the score sheet was blank.
The second half was altogether a more lively affair, with Graeme taking advantage of a blanefield lapse in concentration, we were awarded a free kick 20 yards out, and as Blanefield were trying to get organised the referee blew his whistle and Graeme drove home to give us the lead, Blanefield were far from happy, but we had played to the whistle.
However our own defense were guilty of a lack of concentration when Blanefield equalised 2 minutes later Blanefields equaliser was also from a free kick. Our lead was restored when a lovely through ball from Graeme was met by Dougie who lifted it over the keeper into the net to restore our lead,Blanefied were reduced to 10 men when one of there players was dismissed after receiving 2 yellow cards, and with 5 minutes to go Sub Thomas Maitland forced an error from the Blanefielf centre half and keeper and found himself with the ball at his fee in front of an empty goal, 3 1 to Gartocharn.
A very hard earned but welcome 3 points.
This Tues 4th June we are at home to Gargunnock, who are also flying high in the league, kick off 7 30.
Sat 8th we have another hard game away to last years league winners Deanston, this is a 7pm kick of and should be a cracker of a match.
Tuesday 28th May Gartocharn 7 Aberfoyle 1
The first half was far from one sided as the final score might suggest, we took the lead in 2 minutes when Robert Muir rifled home a Dougie Wilson cross from the right, but we let Aberfoyle back into it 5 minutes before half time when a poor clearance was driven inot the net for the equaliser, but that proved to be the wake up call we needed, and 2 minutes later a Robert Muir shot from 25 yards intot he top right hand corner gave the Aberfoyle keeper no chance and restored our lead. and a minute before half time Dougie went on one of his mazy runs which left a few Aberfoyle defenders in his wake and ended when he drove home from 10 yards.
Half Time 3 1.
We were awarded a penalty 2 minutes into the second half when Robert was tripped in the box, and brother Ian drove home an unstoppable spot kick, that ended any Aberfoyle reisistance, and further goals from Andy Baillie Gary More and Graeme finished the scoring.
