Places of Interest and Natural History
in and around Gartocharn

Athough the village is predominently situated beside the main road from Balloch to Stirling, there are a number of places of interest worth visiting both north and south of the main street. Special walks include Duncryne on the south side and the Aber shore on the north side. For those looking for natural history the countryside is bursting with life down at the Nature Reserve beyond the Aber shore. Please see the sub-menus for further details.

For a little history of the area there is a very interesting old book called Loch Lomond, Loch Katrine and the Trossachs described by George Eyre-Todd, which is conveniently available for reading online.
